DAVID
GILLESPIE graduated from the Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic
Art in London and joined the company of the Theatre Royal, Stratford
East, where he 'cut his teeth' as a performer in the theatre's many
Variety Nights, appearing in sketches with such comedy greats as
Barry Cryer, John Junkin and Victor Spinetti. He has appeared in
many theatres throughout the world and London's West End. He toured
extensively with the Cheek by Jowl Theatre Company, where he played
Puck in A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM and Sir Fopling Flutter in THE
MAN OF MODE in such exotic locations as India, Egypt, Brazil, Uruguay,
Sri Lanka, Nepal and Milton Keynes. His TV appearances include RED
DWARF, Jasper Carrot's CANNED CARROT, the first series of Andy Hamilton's
BEDTIME, and EASTENDERS, where he played Duncan the Curate for a
year. David also led the cast of BBC TV's totally improvised OPERATION
GOOD GUYS, a comedy series which won the Gold and Silver Roses at
the Montreux TV Festival. He is currently appearing in BBC2's SENSITIVE
SKIN and has just recorded the pilot episode of Chris Langham's
new situation comedy SEVEN SECOND DELAY for ITV. His writing credits
include THICKER THAN WATER for Thames TV (co-written with Colin
Wakefield), ALONE TOGETHER for Hat Trick Productions, THE PLEASURE'S
MINE for United Televsion and THE BASIL BRUSH SHOW for BBC. With
Colin Wakefield he wrote the ghost thriller SLEEP NO MORE (RUHELOSE
SCHATTEN), translated by Raymund Stahl. David is also co-owner of
The Speechworks, a company that looks after the speechmaking and
business presentation requirements of senior executives, public
figures and sports personalities. He has recently returned from
the USA where he was guest artist at the South Carolina Theatre
Convention lecturing on Status on Stage.
